Luca Giovanni Braccia
Luca is a London based Italian dance practitioner, researcher and academic, with over ten years of international experience in teaching, performance and choreography.
Currently, Luca is working for Lîla Dance and Dora Frankel Dance. Also, he is a Studio Team Member and FreeSpace Programme curator at Studio Wayne McGregor.
As a dancer, Luca performed works by Jiri Kylian, Merce Cunningham, Shobana Jeyasingh, Patricia Okenwa, Tony Adigun, Mauro Bigonzetti, Dino Verga, Adriana Borriello, Allen and Karen Kaeja, Enzo Celli, Fabrizio Monteverde, Carl Portal, Giovanna Velardi and others. Furthermore, he worked with Akademi and Creative People Dance Places. Luca performed during the international tour of EDge17 directed by Jeanne Yasko, founder of Norrdans.
As a choreographer, he made about ten works which have been presented in China, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom. From 2015 he directs BARBERDANCE/lucabraccia&Co. who performed for Milan Expo 2015, Dance Continuum, Resolution, Invito Alla Danza Festival, Excursus Dance Company, ArteScienza Festival, TenDance Festival and Take the Floor. Luca has won awards including the Premio Claudio Abbado 2015 (Ministry of Education, University and Research) for choreography and Movin’Up 2016 (Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism). He has participated in the choreography critique project of ROMAEUROPA FESTIVAL 2014.
